The KALE Phenomenon
Janie Marshall designed hundreds of graphic tees from 2011 to 2018, after the runaway success of her KALE shirt (for Suburban Riot) that was worn by Beyoncé. The design, a tongue-in-cheek spin on Yale merch, became a pop culture phenomenon, launching a graphic tee empire rooted in wit, minimalism, and cultural commentary. Janie's work defined an era of streetwear-meets-wellness, blending fashion with ironic subversion and clean, bold typography.
